Immediate Loading in Two Mini-Implant Retained Mandibular Overdenture in Patient with Microstomia from Scleroderma Associated Systematic Lupus Erythematosus : A Case Report
Dental implant becomes more popular in the management of edentulous patient. The implant retained overdenture can be an effective approach to improve elderly patient’s quality of life and chewing ability. In case of excessive alveolar ridge resorption with inadequate bone width, Mini dental implant (MDI) with ≤ 3 mm of diameter can be use as an alternative treatment due to less complication surgery procedure, reduce treatment time and reasonable cost. This study presents a case of narrow alveolar ridge and microstomia from scleroderma associated systematic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The patient was treated by immediate loading in two mini-implant retained mandibular overdenture. The treatment and one year follow up gave favorable results.
