Microbiological Tests in Periodontology

Several microbiological tests have been used to identify periodontal pathogens. The succession of new techniques has brought major understanding for the role of bacteria in periodontal diseases. This review presents principles, advantages and limitations of various techniques used for bacterial detection in periodontal research.
