Esthetic Restoration of Severely Decayed Primary Anterior Teeth: A Literature Review

Weeraya Areeraksa

In early childhood caries, maxillary primary anterior teeth are primarily affected. Severely carious primary anterior teeth require full coverage restoration, and the most reliable restoration is the stainless steel crown. However, most parents demand more esthetic restorations. Esthetic restoration of severely decayed primary anterior teeth is a difficult challenge for general practitioners. Many types of full coverage esthetic restorations that are different in technique, indications, advantages and disadvantages are available for restoring primary anterior teeth. This article describes the indications, advantages and disadvantages of esthetic restorations of severely decayed primary anterior teeth.
