Under the

leadership of Mrs. Sodsri Gunta-In (October 1, 2008 – September 30, 2026), the

library overcame severe roof leaks and structural challenges in October 2010.

This led to an approved major renovation budget of over 1.4 million baht in

2012, transforming the library into a modern "Smart Dental Library."Under the

ห้องสมุดคณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ ก่อตั้งขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 31 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2515 พร้อมกับการสถาปนาคณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ (คณะลำดับที่ 9 ของมหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่) โดยแยกตัวมาจากภาควิชาทันตกรรม คณะแพทยศาสตร์ ด้วยวิสัยทัศน์ของ อาจารย์ทันตแพทย์หญิง ดร.ถาวร อนุมานราชธน คณบดีคนแรก ที่เล็งเห็นว่าห้องสมุดคือรากฐานสำคัญของการศึกษาและการพัฒนาวิชาชีพ

The Faculty of Dentistry Library, Chiang Mai University was established alongside the Faculty on March 31, 1972, when the Department of Dentistry separated from the Faculty of Medicine to become CMU’s 9th faculty. Recognizing that a library is the cornerstone of academic growth and professional development, Dr. Thaworn Anumanrajadhon, D.D.S., the founding Dean, established the library from the very beginning.

Milestones & Evolution (ประวัติและการพัฒนาการ)

Phase 1: The Founding Era (ยุคบุกเบิก พ.ศ. 2515 - 2517)

ในระยะแรก ห้องสมุดเปิดให้บริการในพื้นที่ประมาณ 80 ตารางเมตร บนชั้น 2 ของอาคารด้านหน้า ตึกติดถนนอินทวโรรส ใกล้ประตูสวนดอก (ปัจจุบันคือภาควิชาเวชศาสตร์ฟื้นฟู คณะแพทยศาสตร์) โดยให้บริการแบบชั้นปิด (Closed-stack system) มีทรัพยากรแรกเริ่ม ได้แก่ หนังสือภาษาต่างประเทศ 529 เล่ม, หนังสือภาษาไทย 704 เล่ม, วารสารวิชาการต่างประเทศ 15 รายการ และหนังสือพิมพ์ 2 ฉบับ ควบคุมการยืมหนังสือลงสมุดบันทึกโดยลูกจ้างชั่วคราว วุฒิ มศ.3 จำนวน 1 คน

In its early days, the library operated in a modest 80 sq. m. room on the 2nd floor of the front building along Inthawarorot Road near Suan Dok Gate. Operating under a closed-stack system, books were kept in locked glass cabinets containing 529 foreign books, 704 Thai books, 15 international journal subscriptions, and 2 daily newspapers, with manual loan records kept in logbooks.

Phase 2: Spatial Growth (ยุควางระบบและขยายพื้นที่ พ.ศ. 2517 - 2551)

เพื่อยกระดับมาตรฐานห้องสมุด คณะฯ ได้มอบหมายให้ อาจารย์ทันตแพทย์หญิงมัฑณา อินทรสิริสวัสดิ์ และ อาจารย์ทันตแพทย์หญิงดุษฎี ตันตรินิรันดร์ รับหน้าที่บริหารในระยะแรก ต่อมาเมื่อวันที่ 1 ตุลาคม 2517 ได้ยืมตัว นางสาววิลาวัลย์ สุวรรณสัมฤทธิ์ จากคณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ มาวางรากฐานระบบห้องสมุด และโอนย้ายมาเป็นบรรณารักษ์วิชาการอย่างเป็นทางการเมื่อวันที่ 1 พฤศจิกายน 2517 โดยปฏิบัติหน้าที่ยาวนานจนถึง 30 กันยายน 2551 ในช่วงเวลานี้ ห้องสมุดได้ขยายพื้นที่อย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยย้ายไปอาคาร 2 ในปี พ.ศ. 2520 (พื้นที่ 280 ตร.ม.) และย้ายสู่ชั้น 5 อาคาร 7 (อาคาร 20 ปี) เมื่อวันที่ 15 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2535 (พื้นที่ 723 ตร.ม.)

To establish professional standards, Dr. Matthana Intarasirisawat, D.D.S., and Dr. Dudsadee Tantriniran, D.D.S., initially managed library affairs. On October 1, 1974, Ms. Wilawan Suwansumrit was brought from Prince of Songkla University to structure the library system, officially becoming the head librarian on November 1, 1974, and serving until September 30, 2008. During her tenure, the library expanded into Building 2 in 1977 (280 sq. m.) and subsequently moved to its current 723-sq. m. location on the 5th floor of Building 7 (20th Anniversary Building) on June 15, 1992.

Phase 3: Transformation to Smart Dental Library (ยุคก้าวสู่ความทันสมัย พ.ศ. 2551 - 2569)

ภายใต้การบริหารงานของ นางสดศรี กันทะอินทร์ (1 ตุลาคม 2551 – 30 กันยายน 2569) ห้องสมุดได้รับการพัฒนาและก้าวผ่านวิกฤตครั้งใหญ่จากเหตุน้ำรั่วซึมและอาคารเสื่อมสภาพในเดือนตุลาคม 2553 นำไปสู่การอนุมัติงบประมาณปรับปรุงครั้งใหญ่กว่า 1.4 ล้านบาทในปี พ.ศ. 2555 พลิกโฉมจากสถานที่เก็บหนังสือแบบเดิมสู่ “ศูนย์การเรียนรู้ทางทันตแพทยศาสตร์” (Smart Dental Library) ที่ทันสมัย

Phase 4: Next-Generation Leadership & Sustainable Future (ปัจจุบัน)

ตั้งแต่วันที่ 1 ตุลาคม พ.ศ. 2569 เป็นต้นมา นายเสรี คำเปลี่ยน ได้ดำรงตำแหน่งหัวหน้างานฯ นำพาห้องสมุดก้าวสู่อนาคต มุ่งเน้นการผสานสิ่งพิมพ์ สื่อดิจิทัล และเทคโนโลยีเพื่อสนับสนุนการเรียน การสอน และงานวิจัย มุ่งสู่ความเป็นเลิศด้านทันตแพทยศาสตร์อย่างยั่งยืน

As of October 1, 2026, Mr. Seree Khamplean has assumed leadership to direct the library’s next chapter, driving digital integration and learning innovation.
