Prevention for Community Oral Health in the Era of “30 Baht- Universal Coverage Health Care”
The aim of the article is to purpose an approach to provide prevention for community oral health in the era of 30 Baht-universal coverage health care. With grow- ing concerns over the per capita payment per year poli- cies of the Ministry of Health and the increasing demand for dental services, it is the time to focus on primary prevention rather than treatment. The five prin- ciples of primary health care approach was recom- mended. The first principle is an equity in distribution of services to the people who needed. The second is com- munity involvement in the sense that people can make decision for their health. The third is to focus on popu- lation prevention strategy and adopt Ottawa Charter strategies for health promotion. The forth is the use of appropriate technology at cost that could be afforded by individual and community. The last principle is to use strategy that requires multisectoral cooperation and action by adopting The common risk / health factor approach. By means of these principles, it could facili- tate positive impact for oral health in the era of 30 Baht universal coverage health care.
