Fixed Partial Denture Design

Principle of fixed partial denture design consists of abutment selection and retainer, pontic and connector design. Theoretically, fixed partial denture design for each patient may vary according to number and position of missing tooth (teeth). Type and size of connector should be selected to prevent flexing of the restorations and lever arm on retainers and abutments. Proper fixed partial denture design and careful patient selection would therefore lead to satisfactory clinical outcome
